Just a little treat for your ears (and eyes)... #3

Here are a few more songs that I simply cannot stop listening to, and want to share with the world. I will try my best to compile my next treat in a downloadable mix version, but I enjoy watching the videos just as much, so I'll continue to post my fav songs of the moment.

Ed Sheeran's album, '+' has only been released a couple of weeks ago, but he has already taken the UK charts by storm and has hit number 1! Have a listen to the A Team

-Ed Sheeran

Band of Skull's album 'Baby Darling Doll Face Honey' is great, you should really give the entire album a good listen, but 'I Know What I Am' is just one of my favorites.

-Band of Skulls

Ellie Goulding covered the very famous Elton John balade, 'Your Song'. And she did a great job, I can easily listen to this on repeat for hours.

Ellie Goulding

Lykki Li is so much fun to listen to me and se reminds me a bit of Kate Bush. You can check out 'Little Bit' and 'Babooshka'. While you're at it, do yourself a favour and have a look at I Follow Rivers as well.

Lykke Li- How Beautiful is she?!

My current Guilty Pleasures...Maroon 5 Moves Like Jagger. I'm not into Maroon 5 and whatever their vibe is, but I cannot stop listening to this song and moving along to that very recognisable whistle. And Diana Vickers' The Boy who Murdered Love.

Adam Lavine (Maroon 5) and Christina Aguilera

Next is a famous song from the 80s by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush Don't Give Up from one of his most sucessful albums yet.

A very young Peter Gabriel

More hits from the 80s, Bruce Springsteen's Streets of Philadelphia, Don Mclean's Vincent and Neil Young's Cowgirl in the Sand (also you can see this year's Idols winner, Dave's cover of it here, which is might I say ridiculously good).

And a much older Don Mclean

Some of my latest discoveries (by which I mean, songs I've discovered in the past year, cannot stop listening to and have been trying to sell it to every single person I know), include The Kills' Alphabet Pony , The Black Keys' Howlin' for you and The Veils' The Letter.

The Kills- Probably the sexiest duo. ever.

And because I'm going to watch Kings of Leon next week, I'll do a KOL post over the weekend with a selection of my favorite songs. x

David Guetta Tonight

So I have this really cool new friend and yesterday she just upped her game when inviting a bunch of us to go watch David Guetta & Akon TONIGHT! How nice!

I'm not into the Internasional-artist-is-coming-to-South-Africa-let's-go-see-them-eventhough-I-don't-like-them vibes. And I don't like David Guetta (or let's put it this way, I would not suddenly be in the mood for some ‘Sexy Bitch', but if the tune plays in a club, I'll groove to it and sing along to the chorus).

But what an amazing opportunity to hang out with some friends ;) Thank you LC!!

Treat for your ears #2

So recently, I've been listening to a whole lot of local music. There was a time, where there weren't a lot of choices (you know, just the vanfokingtasties vibes and a few others from Durbanville), but suddenly there has been a boom in the industry and there is some hot new talent out there. Here are some of my favorites at the moment, have listen.
If you have not seen my previous Treat for your Ears go Here

Machineri - Big Bad Machine
You can find them on Facebook: Here or listen to their album here, they will also be playing a gig on 29 October 2011 at Mercury (with Dead Lucky & Basson laubscher and the Violent Free Peace).

Shadowclub - Guns & Money
Their BandPage on Facebook. If you haven'y heard about these guys you better start doing something about it (They're opening for Kings of Leon and whether you are a KOL fan or not, you have to admit, it's a big deal opening for an international act of that size).

Tumi & the Volume - Asinamali
Not my usual style and I'm not quite sure yet what exactly it is about them that I like, but I do. Facebook page Here

Zebra & Giraffe - The End of the Road
I love this song and the video. i watch it all the time, so should you.

Die Heuwels Fantasties - Buitenste Ruim
This music video is here for one reason only. That little ginger kid that starts showing face 25 seconds into the music video, THAT! I love that kid so much. You might also remember him from a previous video (Winterstasie - Los My).

And that brings me to my last choice:
Winterstasie - Skryf jy liefde
It is a cool song. Nothing more to it.

Ole

So damn sorry I have been absent the last couple of weeks, I had a hectic test schedule and nearly died. Ok that is an exaggeration, but it was tough. I'm going to try my best to keep this blog updated from now on.

Here is a little treat for ou ears (It is Afrikaans, but I'm sure you'll love it anyway, if, however you are struggling to understand the lyrics, just drop me a line, and I'll translate it for you).
Bouwer Bosch - Vertel My
